Please share a memory of Jessie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On June 19, 2015, Jessie Margaret Hott passed from this life in Lake Havasu City, AZ in her 100th year of life. This was 27 years to the day that her husband, Emmet Hott preceded her in death. Jessie was born to Jesse Stauffer and Margaret Leota Davis Stauffer on December 13, 1914 in Ignacio, CO. She grew up in Ignacio, graduating as Class Valedictorian in 1933. She was the oldest surviving graduate of Ignacio High School at the time of her death. On July 10, 1933, she married the love of her life, Emmet Hott, at her parent's home in Ignacio. To this blessed union two children were born, Margaret Ann and Robert Emmet. They lived on the family ranch between Ignacio and Allison from 1935 until 1972, when they moved into the town of Ignacio. They spent many happy years watching their children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and even great-great-grandchildren grow up. They were married almost 55 years to the day when Emmet passed on June 19, 1988. Jessie was an intelligent, loving, and talented lady. She was well known in Ignacio for her beautiful flower beds. She served on the Public Library Board, which is now known as the Durango Public Library. She was proud of the accomplishments made while she served there. She also served many years on the board of the Spring Creek Hall. Jessie supported her husband during his four terms as La Plata County Commissioner and his 31 years on the REA Board of Directors. During her extraordinary life, mankind went from the days of horse-drawn transportation to this time of remarkable technology. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brothers, Dr. Harold D. Stauffer and Paul Simpson. She is survived by her daughter, Margy (Jim) Sterling, her son, Robert (Fluffy) Hott; her grandchildren, Camy Kinney, Jim Sterling, Jeff Sterling, Troy Hott, Kim McAndrew, and Roger Hott. She is also survived by 19 great-grandchildren, and eight great-great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at Jasmine House on July 7, 2015 at 10:00 AM.
