John Herbert Vancil, 86, passed away January 12, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born on January 2, 1917 in Danville, Illinois to Herbert & Lulu (Jones) Vancil.John moved to Lake Havasu 17 years ago from Bremerton, Washington. He did electrical work for the US Government in Keyport, Washington for 18 years.John was a proud veteran in the US Navy during WWII. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, a life member of the N.R.A., a life member of N.A.R.F.E. and a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps.John also loved to hunt and fish. He was a very avid member of the London Bridge Amateur Radio Association.He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Frances Mary Vancil of Lake Havasu; sons, John A. Vancil and his wife Linda of Silverdale, Washington, Donald E. Vancil and his wife Corrine of Big Timer, Montana, Michael L. Vancil of Bremerton, Washington and Christopher L. Vancil of Seattle, Washington; daughters, Judith E. Seay and her husband John of Port Orchard, Washington, Frances Ann Vancil and Rose M. Vancil both of Bremerton, Washington; one brother, Richard E. Vancil of Port Orchard, Washington; one sister, Dorothy Vancil of Indianapolis, Indiana; grandchildren, William Baird, Shannon Severn, Thomas Vancil, Nathan Vancil, Lisa Echternach, Dale Betz, Jeffery Betz, Steven Vancil and Rachel Bryson; great grandchildren, Stevie Tetrick, Zackary Tetrick, Cole Betz, Emily Echternach, Jordan Echternach, Brittany Baird, Brandon Baird, Clarissa Vancil, Jonah Severn, Abigayl Severn and Samuel Severn.A memorial service will be held Wednesday, January 15, 2003, 1:00 PM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church with Father Jorge Gonzalez officiating.The family respectfully requests donations to go to his name to Hospice of Havasu, St. Vincent De Paul or Our Lady of the Lake Building Fund.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
