J. Robert Jacobs, known to his family and friends as "Bob", passed away Wednesday, February 5, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He lived in Lake Havasu for 35 years. He was born to George & Bessie Jacobs in Lancaster, Pennsylvania on August 13, 1920.He worked on the Civilian Conservation Corps prior to his entry in the US Army Air Corps on August 11, 1941, where he was stationed at Kingman Army Air Field in March, 1944. He served in the Central Europe Air Campaign with the 8th Air Force as a ardier with 35 combat missions. He received the Air Medal with Five Oak Leaf Clusters and the Purple Heart. He was honorably discharged in October 1945 with the rank of Staff Sergeant.Bob married Margaret Dorothy Charlwood, (Peggy) on March 16, 1945 in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. The moved to Southern California in 1949 where Bob was employed at Virtue Brothers Manufacturing and McDonald Douglas Air Craft. They then moved to Lake Havasu City in 1968 where he worked at McCulloch Corporation until his retirement in 1979.He is survived by his loving wife, Peggy of 58 years; son, Jack; daughter-in-law, Terri and son Jeff of Lake Havasu; three grandchildren, Lance and wife Rachel of Redding, California, Brad of Lake Havasu City and Brian of Nebraska and two brothers, James and George of Pennsylvania.He was preceded in by his brothers, Jerre and Ralph.Memorial services will be held at Lakeview Community Church on Wednesday, February 12th at 1:00 PM with a short graveside ceremony immediately following at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens. Military honors will be held by the V.F.W. Post #9401.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to go to Lakeview Community Church.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
