Obituary of Daniel URBAN

Havasu Pioneer ResidentDaniel Vincent Urban 79, died Sunday, February 23rd, 2003 at Havasu Regional Medical Center in Lake Havasu City, Az; He was born November 13th, 1923 in Cleveland, Ohio, the only child of Vincent J. and Helen (Malesky) Urban. Dan graduated from Wickliffe High School in 1941, served in the United States Army during WWII, honorably discharged March lst, 1946. He married Peggy Goodrich in September of 1956, moved to Ohio to California and then back to Ohio again. In that time they had four children. In true pioneer spirit, Dan moved his wife and children to the "Wonderful Small World of Lake Havasu City" sight unseen, save a few articles from the "Havasu Herald" in 1972. He was employed by the Lake Havasu School District in 1977, working as a custodian till retirement in 1989.He was preceded in by his wife of 45 years Peggy Urban. He is survived by his four children, Michael Urban and daughter-in-law Kathy of Carson City, NV; daughters Suellen Shepardson and son-in-law Kevin, Patricia Stits and son-in-law Bill of Lake Havasu City, Az; Kathleen German and son-in-law Mark of Chandler, Az; Rebecca Fetterman and son-in-law Jay of Lake Havasu City, Az; grandchildren Alexandria and Andrea Urban; Sarah, Samantha, Daniel, and Kalyn Shepardson; Alexander and Emily Stits; Aaron and Hannah German; Tyler and Brendan Fetterman. Dan will be remembered for his dedication to his wife and family, and his artistic abilities "Papa" will be greatly missed.A rosary and scripture service will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Saturday, March lst, 2003 at ll:00 am with Deacon Tom Coe officiating. A gathering to celebrate his life will follow at the home of Sue and Kevin Shepardson.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
