Basil Robert Jones 66, passed away peacefully at home among his family, February 25th, 2003, after a brief illness.He was born May 18th, 1936 in Blue Ridge, Georgia and grew up in Florida, where he became a prominent builder until he and his wife, Marion retired to Lake Havasu City, AZ; seven years ago. Finding retirement not his style, he and his family established and operated Family Thrift Shop until illness forced his retirement one year ago. He met and made many good friends while keeping busy and helping others. Basil and Marion traveled extensively, enjoying the mountains and the ocean. He loved woodworking and was an avid Nascar fan. He maintained that his family was his greatest accomplishment.He was a wonderful husband to Marion, a loving and generous father to Dawn Jones and Susie Sparling, and an adoring "Pa" to Scotty Sparling, all of Lake Havasu City, Az. Special brother-in-law to Bob and Fran Croteau of Lake Havasu City, Az; and Vik and Joan Vukoja of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. "Favorite" son-in-law of Olga Worman of Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. He was a very special uncle to Gordie Croteau of Lake Havasu City, Az; David Croteau, Brian Croteau (predeceased), Johnny Savage, Jimmy Savage (predeceased), and their families, all of Canada. Everlasting friend of Gil and Phyllis Keyes of Winter Haven, Fl. Caring friend of many, including David Sparling, of Winter Haven, Fl.A private famaily celebration of his life will be held. The family thanks and wishes the continuing support of Hospice of Havasu for their compassionate care.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
