J. E. Pounders, 80, passed away March 4, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to John & Minnie (Burks) Pounders on April 20, 1922 in Hot Springs, Arkansas.Mr. Pounders had been a resident of Lake Havasu for the past 2 years, moving here from Parker, where he resided for 21 years. He worked as a warehouse superintendent for Market Basket in Commerce, California for 32 years. J. E. was a member of Lakeview Community Church and a proud veteran in the US Navy during WWII.Mr. Pounders is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Alice; one son, Ken Pounders of Lake Havasu; daughters, Bonnie Hamilton of Lake Havasu and Linda Brown of Golden, Colorado; brothers, O.D. Pounders and Jim Pounders both of Riverside, California; three sisters, Sibyl McElhaney of La Mesa, California, Blanche King of Fort Bragg, California and Georgia Lee Pavkovich of Upland, California. He is also surivived by six grandchildren, Jodi, Teresa, Patrick, Mark, Andrew and Heather and three great grandchildren, Tyler, Myrissa and Justin.Funeral services will be held Friday, March 7, 2003, 1:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel with Rev. Richard Rounds officiating. Interment will be taking place at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Hospice of Havasu.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
