Obituary of Shirley Van MATRE

Shirley M. Van Matre, 59, passed away Wednesday, March 5th, 2003 in Lake Havasu City, Az. She was born to Ella and Frank Nichol in Bottineau, ND; in 1943.She spent the majority of her life in Southern California befor retiring to Lake Havasu City in August of 200l. Shirley worked throughout her life in various finance and administrative positions.She was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother whose every waking moment was spent enjoying her family, especially her grandson Dakota. Shirley was an active member of the American Legion Post 8l Ladies Auxiliary and enjoyed traveling in her RV and spending time with her family.Her loving husband of 32 years, Jack of Lake Havasu City; daughter Shani, son-in-law Jason and grandson Dakota, who all reside in Bowling Green, KY. survives her. Family members said Shirley had many friends and family in Lake Havasu City that she loved very much. She also has extented family in Texas, Washington, California, Arizona and North Dakota.A gathering to celebrate Shirley's life and friendships will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, March 8th, at the American Legion Post 8l in Lake Havasu City.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Havasu or the American Cancer Society.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
