Obituary of Peter Edward Lutes

Peter E. Lutes, 74, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at home in Meadview, Ariz. He had been an in-home hospice patient since October 2012. He was born June 10, 1938, in Alpena, Mich., son of the late Clifton and Isla Lutes; brother of the late Linda Lutes; step-father of the late Cindy Arnold. On Dec. 14, 1976, he married his wife, Jeanie Kline. At that time Peter already had two daughters from a previous marriage and Jeanie had two daughters and two sons. He was great with all the children. He was also an exceptional husband, loving father and grandfather, good friend, and humorist and humanitarian. Mr. Lutes was a moving van owner operator for over 30 years before retiring. He enjoyed working with metal. Some of his creations (which he called sculptures) were pictured in the Kingman Daily Miner. Because his creations made people smile, the journalist referred to them as the "welcoming committee." His volunteer services included the U.S. Army, VFW, and fire department. Peter is survived by his wife, Jeanie Lutes; brother, Jeremy Lutes; two daughters, Angela Lutes and Constance Steggell; stepdaughter, Rhonda Kline; two stepsons Paul Kline and John Kline; five grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; several great-grandchildren; dozens of cousins; and former wife, LaDonna Samuelson. There will not be a service. Mr. Lutes donated his body to Science Care with hope that the medical research will improve the welfare of humankind. Arrangements were handled by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home in Kingman.
