Champion Bridge PlayerMarian Ridley Kelly died Thursday, March 20th, 2003. She was born September 26th, 1928 in Washington D.C., the daughter of Charles Y. and Pearl Ridley. She grew up in Baltimore and attended the University of Michigan, where she met her future husband. She was a civilian secretary for the U.S. Army of occupation in Yokohama, Japan and returned to marry. She settled with her husband in Long Beach, CA; where they lived for 30 years and they had two children. She went to Australia with her husband to live in the Outback for five years and moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 15 years ago. They traveled around the world together three times.Marian was an accomplished competitor in Duplicate Bridge and became a Life Master in 1979. She loved to prepare gourmet meals and enjoyed gardening and her cat, Genghis. It gave her great joy to have both of her children living in Lake Havasu City, AZ.She is survived by Frank Kelly, husband of 52 years, daughter and son-in-law Carolyn and Edward Earley, and son and daughter-in-law Matt and Cathy Kelly, grandson Scott Kelly, and granddaughter Beth Strosnider, all of Lake Havasu City, AZ; and grandson Michael Strosnider of Kansas.There will be a private Celebration of Life for the family.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
