Please share a memory of Patricia to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Patricia Gail Wells, a pioneer resident of Lake Havasu City, died Monday June 10, 2013 from complications of a stroke, one day short of her 70th birthday.
Pat was born on June 11, 1943 in Pomona, California to Don and Helen Hanson. She married her soul mate, Lloyd, in 1966 and moved with their young sons to Lake Havasu in 1971, leaving budding career opportunities, for a simple family life in a small community. Over the 40 years in Havasu, Pat worked at the Nautical Inn as controller, the Department of Economic Security, and often worked evenings waitressing to help support her family. Her final years were spent bookkeeping at Michael Alan's furniture.
Pat was a passionate community leader in a broad range of local groups. Her long-time love was the Soroptimists, where she touched many lives from 1989 to present. She served as President and Treasurer, and many committees including the Interagency Council, Sally's House for domestic violence, and posting flags along McCulloch Blvd. Pat also served on the MCC Foundation Board, the United Way, The Eagles and was a church youth group and Boy Scout den leader. She loved Lake Havasu and walked the London Bridge Days parade for decades, including the inaugural dedication gala.
Pat is survived by her husband, Lloyd; her sons Scott and Dean; her sisters Joanne Del Nero, Chris Wood; her brother Keith Gilbert; and six beloved grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
There will be a Memorial Celebration Service at the Lake Havasu Baptist Church on June 23rd at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Soroptimist of Lake Havasu, helping women and girls since 1971, PO Box 331, 86405-0331. A special Pat Wells Scholarship fund will continue Pat's vision for meeting needs in her community.
