Catherine Venditti Haseman, 84, passed away, Thursday, April 24, 2003 at Havasu Nursing Center. She was born April 13, 1919 to Rose and Gustav Venditti in Chicago, Illinois.Blessed with musical talent as a child, she loved to sing, dance and play the piano, which she began learning at the age of 7.In 1937, she graduated from Austin High School and enrolled at DePaul University in Chicago where she received her BA degree with a music major in 1941. In 1942, she married Carl F. Haseman, also a DePaul graduate in music. They moved to Elmhurst, Illinois in 1950 where Catherine raised 2 children, developed a piano studio and maintained active membership in numerous musical organizations.In Chicago, she was a member of the Society of American Musicians, serving many times as adjudicator. Many of her students were contestants and scholarship winners. She was an active member and soloist in the Chicago Musicians Club of Women, the Glen Ellyn Musician's Club, the Elmhurst Piano Club and the Northeast Suburb Musicians Club. She was also a frequent soprano soloist with the Epiphany Lutheran Church Choir.Catherine and Carl moved to Lake Havasu City in 1972 where Catherine established herself as a teacher and performing musician. She has been a soloist with the Lake Havasu Community Orchestra and appeared with artists in concert. She has sung with the Lake Havasu Community Choir and had membership in the Madrigal Society and the Lake Havasu Federated Music Club. She was organist for many years at a local church and was a founding member and frequent officer of the Community Concert Association.She generously shared her talents and gave recitals to benefit her church, Mount Olive Lutheran and other organizations. In addition to her musical life, she loved the game of Bridge and was active in numerous clubs throughout her life.Catherine is survived by a son, Fredrick of Santa Maria, California and a daughter, Paula of Madison, Wisconsin.She is preceded in by her husband, Carl in 1994 at the age of 86.Catherine loved her church, her family, her many friends and her students. She will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed.A memorial service will be held at 3:30 pm, Friday, May 2 at Mount Olive Lutheran Church. Pastor Tom Dunham will officiate. A reception will follow services.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mount Olive Lutheran Church.Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
