William J. "Bill" Somishka, 75, of Lake Havasu City, Arizona, passed away peacefully at home with his family at his side on April 24, 2003 after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Bill was born on March 12, 1928 in Whitehall, Pennsylvania, son of the late Jacob and Sophie Somishka. He has lived in Arizona since 1983. Bill served his country in the US Air Force from 1948 until 1954.Bill is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 49 years, Irene; his daughter, Julia and her husband Bruce, son, Matthew and his wife Shelly, and son, Stephen; nine grandchildren and one great-grandson. He is also survived by his brother, Mike and sisters, Cecilia and Margaret, all in Pennsylvania. He is preceded in by his son, Philip Somishka.Bill was an avid sports fan, but most importantly a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather (pop-pops) and great grandfather. He will be truly missed by all of his family, but we are strengthened in the knowledge that he is now at peace.Scripture services will be held at 1:00 pm at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home on Monday, April 28. Gil Lopez will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Hospice of Havasu.Arrangements made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
