Obituary of Charles SEMMELMANN
Please share a memory of Charles to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On April 25, 2003, Charles "Chuck" Semmelmann, age 64, journeyed to the angels. For those who knew him, he was a good man...not a prince among men, but a king. He has earned his eternal reward by being a loving and loyal husband, a doting father and grandfather and a wonderful friend. He was a man who did not realize his own worth, but those of us who knew him did...he was priceless. He was a kind and gentle man, soft-spoken, hard-working and very talented. He was creative and in many ways, ingenious. There weren't many things he couldn't do except to put a value on his work. Chuck always gave more than he took.He was a rare commodity in another way. He and Sue Ann were married for 40 years. Together they raised four children; Brian Semmelmann of Menomonee Falls, WI, Scott Semmelmann and his wife Jerilyn of Brookfield, WI, Heidi Doyle and her husband Mark of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Todd Semmelmann of Lake Havasu City, AZ. Chuck loved his six grandchildren; Shelby Semmelmann (daughter of Brian) of Milwaukee, WI, Cassidy & Lexi Doyle (children of Heidi & Mark) of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Austen, Carley and Dillon Semmelmann (children of Scott & Jeri) of Milwaukee, WI.Dillon was only just born and Chuck never had the chance to see him, but you know he loved him. Chuck was known to his granddaughters in Lake Havasu as "grampa", but to Austen and Carley, he was known as "grampa big guy".Chuck was asked to move to Lake Havasu City by Norm Brown, the then owner of Magic Boats. He was in charge of engineering and design. While he was with Commercial Water Sports, he designed and engineered the Dreamcatcher, a ferry on Lake Havasu. In September of 1996, he designed and engineered a 30 ft. buoy tender commissioned by the Arizona State Parks. He also designed and engineered a dining barge for a Japanese conglomerate in Guam, building it in two sections, shipping it overseas and assembling it in Guam. Before Chuck moved to Lake Havasu, he designed and built a 30 ft. ocean-going race boat (My Career), a 64 ft. motor sailer (My Reverie), which sailed around the world without mishap and a 56 ft. party trawler.Chuck was an avid racefan and in his youth, raced sports cars and midget cars. He also built and maintained stock cars for drivers local to Wisconsin.A celebration of Chuck's life will take place Saturday, May 17 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at 3841 Silver Clipper Lane, Lake Havasu. Chuck would want everybody to dress casual. In lieu of flowers, donations may go to Hospice of Havasu.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
