Howard "Matt" A. Matthews 79, passed away on April 28th, 2003 at Havasu Regional Medical Center. He was born August 26th, 1923 in Belleville, NJ. Howard moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. 16 years from Anaheim, CA. He worked as an inspector for Autonetics-Rockwell in Anaheim, CA; for 10 years. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and retired after 23 years. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge #2399, Moose Lodge, V.F.W. Post #9401 and American Legion Post #81.He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years Mary J. Matthews of Lake Havasu City, Az; son Robert Austin Matthews of Chandler, AZ; daughters Cheryl A. Reed of Yorba Linda, CA; Barbara J. Fredericks of Montclair, CA; Patricia D. Anderson of Mission Viejo, CA; Debra J. Noeller of Corona, CA; brother Russell B. Matthews of Anaheim, CA; 10 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Thursday, May 1st, 2003 from 6 to 8 pm, with an Elks Lodge of Sorrow at 7:00 PM. Graveside services will be held at Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA; on Monday, May 5th, 2003 at 10:45 AM. with full military honors. Chaplain Norman Goodwin will be officiating.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made in his name to Elks Scholarship Fund, C/O Elks Lodge #2399, 3532 McCulloch Blvd. Lake Havasu City, Az. 86406Arrangements were made by Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
