Helen Geralyn "Jerry" Payer, 85, passed away October 8, 2003 in Las Vegas after a brief illness. She was born April 19, 1918 on Pioneer Place in Coffee County, Kansas to Victor and Helen Payer.As a child and teenager she enjoyed competing in Spelling Bees and 4H projects (especially the fat calves division) at both the County and State levels. After high school graduation she worked for the Santa Fe Railroad in Passenger Division. After marrying Ralph (Pete) Bonfield she moved to Shawnee Mission, Kansas where she worked as a Realtor for 25 years, was very active at Merriam Christian Church in the Madonna Shrine No. 21 of Eastern Star and was a Past President and Life Member of the Crestview PTA.Upon moving to Lake Havasu in 1984, Jerry enjoyed volunteering at the Hospital and as a Crisis Line counselor. In addition, she served on the Board of Directors at New Horizons, was active in TOPS Chapter 437 and Kansas Sunflower, Inc. In her spare time she enjoyed playing cards, bunco and other games - any time and any place.She was preceded in by her parents, brothers Eugene and Wayne, granddaughter Liana and ex-husband, Pete. She is survived by her daughters, Vicki (Chuck) Lindtwed of Lake Havasu and Sandra (Bill) McClellan of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; granddaughter Amy Proctor of Lake Havasu; sister Claudine Fitzgerald of Westminster, Maryland; stepdaughter Beverly (Keith) Stanwix of Topeka, Kansas; sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many wonderful friends. She will be sorely missed by everyone who knew her.In lieu of flowers, the family suggest contributions in her name to New Horizons, the Lake Havasu Special Olympics or the Presbyterian Church Aid to Seminary Students Fund. Services will be held at Community Presbyterian Church on Thursday, October 16, 11:00 AM.Interment will be at the French Ridge Cemetery in Coffey County, Kansas at a later date.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
