Verna and I were servers (waitresses in those days) for the breakfast and lunch crowds at the old Nautical restaurant and then at the new Nautical Inn Captain's Table. Verna was so good at her job, and she was a very patient mentor to me. I am so sorry to hear of her passing, but also knowing that she is in a better place with those who passed before her. My sincere condolences to her family.

I worked with Verna and a host of crazy other people at the Nautical what seems like decades ago (it was). I met her son Troy years later and we're like brothers now. My family loves him. Verna will be missed, she was a fine woman. God bless and keep her.

My sweet friend Verna goes now to the comfort of the Spirit having fulfilled and met life's challenges for so many years. 47 years I have gotten to know lovely Verna, since the age 13 when my first job was at the Nautical Inn as busboy alongside a wonderful soul providing for her children waitressing. We can all be happy that Verna has gone on to the Spirit, but saddened for those of us that remain.
