Blanche E. Christy, 96, passed away Tuesday, October 28th, 2003 at the home of her daughter and son-in-law in Lake Havasu City, Az. She was born March 21st, 1907 on a farm in Seymour, Iowa, to Robert and Bessie McClurg. Blanche was the third of four daughters. She earned a teaching certificate at Drake University and taught eight grades in a one room school house in Woodward, Iowa in 1928. She met Earl M. Christy at a Christian Endeavor meeting and the two were married November 18th, 1928 in Sioux City, Iowa. Blanche and Earl moved west in 1941, eventually settling in Oregon where they lived for many years. Blanche also worked as a clerk for the Oregon State Hospital until she retired in 1972. She moved to Lake Havasu City, Az; to be closer to her family in 2000.Blanche was know to love her garden and was especially fond of flowers. She was an avid Bridge player and devoted friend who had many life long friendships. Her family says that she was an inspiration to all who met her and a devoted mother. In her life Blanche was able to travel to her ancestral home of Scotland, to Europe three times, Hawaii and throughout the States. She possessed an uncommon character molded by faith and love of family and friends, faithfully supporting The Court Street Christian Church throughout her life. Her faith and years of hard work formed the basis of a life lived in service to others and she considered the love and respect of her family, life's most precious reward. She was dearly loved and is greatly missed. Blanche is survived by son Robert Christy and wife Janet of Rancho Palos Verdes, Ca; daughter Ann Willard and husband Terry of Lake Havasu City Az; four grandchildren, Diane Bohnsack, Linda Mohabeer, Charles and Miles Willard and six great grandchildren. She was preceded in by her husband Earl M. Christy, parents and sisters, Helen, Ina and Katheryn.Memorial services were at Havasu Bible Fellowship, 1787 McCulloch Blvd., Lake Havasu City, Az; Saturday, November 1st, 2003.SpecialSpecial thanks and gratitude for the love and compassion of Hospice.In lieu of flowers, family request donations be made in her name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O.
