Donald W. Holligan, 83, passed away on November 24th, 2003 at Havasu Nursing Center in Lake Havasu City, Az. He was born on August 28th, 1920 in New York, New York.Donald moved to Lake Havasu City, Az; 33 years ago from Garfield Heights, Ohio. He attended Penn State University. He worked for Glenn L. Martin Company, where he helped design and build some of the U.S. Army Air Corps fighter planes during WWII. After the war, he started his own companies which included a block building plant and a sand pit.. In 1970 he and his wife moved to Lake Havasu City, Az; and helped build the city using Holligan Construction as their company name. His better known projects included the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and the remodeling of the Woods Building , from a building on stilts to the two-story building it is today. He also added the Woods II Building and built several stores on McCulloch Blvd. The residences he built included homes on the golf course to small beginner's homes. Donald was a member of the Community Presbyterian Church.Donald spent several years in Havasu Nursing Center after major surgery and a stroke in 1997. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Yolanda K. Holligan of Lake Havasu City, Az; daughters Karen M. Holligan of Lake Havasu City, Az; Kathleen H. Schneider of College Station, Tx; brother Kenneth Holligan of Destin, Fl; and grandchildren David, Kristopher, Ryan and Dana.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
