Obituary of Joseph Leo Dixon
Please share a memory of Joseph to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
On July 12, 2013 Joseph Leo Dixon Jr., Senior Deputy Building Inspector, member of Operating Engineers took flight when Jesus called and is sitting at God's mercy seat. Like Nehemiah in our Old Testament Joe was a continual example to his family, friends and co-workers of rising up before dawn to pray and survey the territory of our lives before we encountered the day, and oh how we will miss that comfort.
Joseph was born on September fourth, 1939 to Anna and Joseph Sr. in Ambridge, Pennsylvania.
Today he is waiting with grandson Zachary for his bride Carolyn of 53 years and children Jodi, Jeri, Joey and bride Vicki, Jami and husband Robbie, Jennifer and husband Jon and 31 grandchildren, Courtney, Cameron, Megan, Thomas, Kasey, Kenny, Kory, Tristen, Trevor, Rikki, Robin, Alexandra, Noah, Elijah, Joseph, Olivia, Sebastian, Skyler, Chandler, Jon Jon, Seth, Jordan, Brandon, Ava, Cora, Layla, Joelle, and Azalea.
On the earth "Dad", "Papa Joe", "Uncle Joe" and "My Joe" had John Wayne's true grit, Cary Grants charm, Red Skelton's humor, he was as gentle yet bold as Pastors Charles Stanley, Chuck Smith and our own Ray Carter. He was as sure of the Deity of Christ as Abraham, Moses, David, Daniel. Like Peter he spent time with Jesus, like James he was practical and like Paul there was that sweet incense of prayer always.
Now Joe is saying it is perfect up here. Just like Jesus said there's no more sickness, no heartache, no tears ever again so don't pass up the chance of a lifetime. Tell others hurry home, and by the way…Be Gentle.
We will gather to celebrate Joe's homegoing Saturday, September 28th, at 5:30 at Calvary Chapel on Acoma, Lake Havasu, AZ. Then on to Lake View hall on London Bridge Road for fellowship.
