IN CELEBRATION OF A VERY SPECIAL LIFECora Elizabeth NorrisKnown as "Betty" to her friends in the west and known as "Lib" to her family and friends in the Midwest, passed away January 18, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born March 24, 1923 to Emma and Jerd Crabtree.Betty was the youngest of 13 children, growing up in a rural area of Ohio. She made Lake Havasu her home in 1996, moving here from Los Gatos, CA. She was an electrical technician for Unisys in Sunnyvale, CA for 7 years.Betty had friends everywhere, made friends of everyone she met and always found quality time for anyone in need. She had a special passion for animals and will always be remember for her quick wit and warm sense of humor.Betty was a very devoted member of St. Michael's United odist Church; she had a big heart and gave to many charitable causes throughout her lifetime. One of Betty's favorite pastimes was playing golf. She won several trophies and prizes; her golf escapades were written-up in the Lake Havasu newspaper several times.Betty lost her best friend and beloved husband of over 50 years Joe in November 2000. They were active square dancers for years and loved to throw horseshoes. She even threw straighter than Joe, to his never ending aggravation. She gave him a run for his money at Ping Pong, making both of them very competitive. But most of all, they loved each other and they both loved Lake Havasu City. She was a devoted wife, supporting Joe through numerous health issues. Their home has both a lake and mountain view and every morning, she was able to start her day by looking out over the mountain range where Joe's ashes are scattered.Betty is survived by her son, Maurice Heaton of Irvine, CA and grandson, Guy M. Heaton. She was a loving and thoughtful mother and no son could have possibly asked for a better mother. Her love was unconditional. She played softball and basketball, even better than her son and had earned two high school letters, whereas Maurice had only earned one.On Sunday, January 18, 2004, she went to heaven to be with Joe and God. May God rest her soul and show her the peace she surely earned in this life.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
