Mildred Ann "Billie" McKee, 88, passed away on Wednesday, February 4th, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She had been a resident of Lake Havasu City, AZ; for the past 27 years. Mildred ("Billie" to family and friends) was born on October 17th, 1915 in Richmond, VA; to Otis and Rosalie Thompson. As one of six children, she moved with her family to Mt. Vernon, Ohio, where she enjoyed her childhood, schools and youth.Her family said that as a beautiful young woman in the early 1930's, Mildred was a capable vocalist of hit music of the time. She sang with well-known bands such as Little Jack Little of Ohio's popular Buckeye Lake Pavilion. In retirement in Lake Havasu City, she enjoyed boating, square dancing, RV travel, tennis and many other local activities. Billie was married for 65 years to Wendell McKee who passed away in 2002. As the wife of a career Navy officer, Mildred joined the work force producing military munitions during World War II. She joined her husband on most assignments, so she was able to enjoy living in many parts of the United States. She was also delighted in a two-year residence in Japan.Mildred is survived by her three children, Wally Baker of Woodland Hills, CA; Marilyn Robertson of Fullerton, CA; Stephen McKee of Lake Havasu City, AZ; brother Ernest Thompson of Sun City; 8 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.Funeral services will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel, Monday, February 9th, 2004 at 1:00 PM with Pastor Lan Blair officiating. Interment will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home.
