Richard Lee Taylor Jackson, 71, passed away April 1, 2004 at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born January 24, 1933 in Los Angeles, CA to Richard B. and Helen (Hairston) Jackson.Dick served in the US Navy from 1950 to 1955 aboard the Destroyer USS Gurke. He was with the Inglewood, CA fire department for 4 years and Big Bear Fire Department for 2 years. He had a kennel where he boarded, trained and showed dogs in California. He was in construction in and around California and ran a city baseball league in Inglewood for 5 years.Dick and his wife moved to Lake Havasu City in 1991 where he became active in assisting Veterans. He served as the Transportation Officer for the D.A.V. He also served as service officer, past Bingo Manager, funeral detail, color guard and Senior Vice Commander for the V.F.W. Post. He was a member of the American Legion Post #81 and the B.P.O.E. #4299 in Lake Havasu City. One of Dick's greatest joys was helping veterans and assisting any way he could at Post 9401.Dick is survived by his devoted wife of 25 years, Esther of Lake Havasu City; son James and his wife Linda of Orville, CA, Hank and his wife Dawn of Apple Valley, CA, David and his wife Debbie of Apple Valley, CA; daughter, Cathy Leuck and her husband Larry of Palmdale, CA; brother, William and his wife Ann of Laverne, CA; 13 grandchildren, 8 nephews and nieces.A memorial service will be held Sunday, April 25, 12:00 PM at the VFW Post 9401 with Chaplain Fred Bennett officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the VFW.In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to go to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
