Kenneth Eugene Archer, 33-year resident of Lake Havasu City, passed away at home on Friday, April 9, 2004. He was 80 years old.Kenneth was born to Finley Howard Archer and Gladdus Archer on October 1, 1923 in Bixby, OK. Kenneth's mother died while he was a young boy and Mora Doty Archer became his step-mother.After high school Ken trained at the National Defense School in Oklahoma City. He worked as a machinist at Douglas Aircraft in El Segundo, CA. In 1943 Ken was inducted into the army where he served as a Field Lineman with the 280th Field Artillery Battalion in France, Belgium, Germany and Austria. Corporal Archer was discharged in 1946 with medals which included the Purple Heart.Before moving to Lake Havasu City in 1970, Ken worked as a tool and die maker at Axelson's in Montebello, CA; for 20 years. He retired from the Lake Havasu School District in 1985 where he had worked in the Maintenance Department for 14 years.Survivors include his wife Deanna Archer of Lake Havasu City, AZ; two stepdaughters, Sharon Gilberton of Sierra Vista, AZ; Linda Gagnon of Mesa, AZ; 6 grandchildren, 3 great granddaughters; brothers Thurman Lee Archer of Hemet, CA; Lawrence Archer of Norman, OK; Ronald Archer of Ignacio, CO; and sister Jereva Johnson of Lancaster of CA. His son Timothy Patrick Archer preceded him in .Visitation will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Thursday, April 15 from 6 to 8 pm. A Celebration of his life will be held at Lietz-Fraze Chapel on Friday, April 16, at 10:00 am with Pastor Dale Ray officiating. The V.F.W. Post #9401 and American Legion Post #81 will present military honors. Burial will follow at Lake Havasu Memorial Gardens.Family request donations be made in his name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ. 86405Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
