Please share a memory of David to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
David Dean Schuler of Lake Havasu City finished his last race peacefully while at home, Saturday July 20, 2013 at the age of 80.
Known to many as "Dave" or "Papa", he was born in New Vienna, Ohio June 29, 1933 to parents John and Nancy Schuler. His family moved to California where he eventually enlisted into the Army, proudly serving in Germany for 2 years. Soon after, he met the love of his life, Billie Ann Ottele. Dave and Billie were married in 1956 and were married for 56 years. Dave, a retired Teamster, enjoyed sports, the race book, was an avid race fan, and a popular motorcycle racer himself. He was a lifetime charter member in the American Motorcycle Association, Hilltoppers Motorcycle Club in Long Beach, California, and was also inducted into the TrailBlazers Racing Hall of Fame. Papa's main love was enjoying the company of his family and many friends. He always had a happy outlook on life and enjoyed all of his days on earth. Papa's popular necklace "Shit Happens" symbolized his easy going disposition.
Dave is survived by his wife and longtime sweetie, Billie Ann; sons, Dave Jr. (Gina) & Anthony (Beth); daughters, Jeri (Dale) & Tracey (Lonny); brothers, Ivan & Jim; and sister, Dolores. "Papa" was also blessed with 12 wonderful grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. He was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Mount Olive Church in Lake Havasu City Saturday, August 10 at 11 AM. Military Honors will be rendered at the onset of the Memorial Service. A celebration honoring His life will follow at the church reception hall. In lieu of Flowers, the family requests donations are made to Mount Olive Church in honor of Dave Schuler.
