Harold A. "Swede" Wachholz, 76, died on May 1, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. Swede was born on January 24, 1928 in Loyal, WI; son of George and Ida Wachholz. He went into the Navy January 24, 1946 and moved to Clatskanie, OR; in April 1950, where he met Caroline J. Williams and they were married on Thanksgiving Day, 1950.Swede started in the lumber business in Astoria, OR; and moved to Grants Pass, OR; in 1952 and managed Grants Pass Lumber from 1952 to 1961. He spent nine months in Portland in the retail lumber business and then in May of 1962 purchased Kootenai Building Supply, Inc; in Coeur d' Alene, ID. Swede retired and closed that business in 1982. He was active in the Elks, Eagles, Hayden Lake Country Club, Gyro Club of Coeur d' Alene and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Coeur d' Alene. Swede and Caroline had a 40 acre ranch on the Rathdrum Prairie. After his retirement they spent a lot of time traveling and had homes in Yuma, AZ; and Leisure Park in Hayden Lake. Caroline passed away on August 16, 1997. Swede married Roberta Parsons on October 7, 2000 and they made their home in Lake Havasu City, AZ.Swede lost his oldest son Joseph in May of 2002. He is survived by his wife Roberta; Joe's wife Susie and grandson Jantzen Peake and granddaughter Chelsea Peake of Colorado; son George Wachholz and wife Amy; grandson George Raymond H. Wachholz of Coeur d' Alene, ID. Swede had a brother and two sisters who preceded him in . Memorial services are pendingContributions may be made to Hospice of North Idaho or the American Cancer Society.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
