Charles Samuel Haynes, 76, passed away on May 12, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on February 5, 1928 in Londonderry, OH to Phillip and Mary (Walsh) Haynes.Following graduation from high school, Charles joined the US Navy for which he served 22 years, participating in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. Following his military service, Charles became a letter carrier for the US Postal Service in Anaheim, CA. Upon retirement, Charles and his wife Norma moved to Jacksonville, FL. In 1998 Charles and Norma moved to Lake Havasu City. Charles was a life member of the Fleet Reserve, life member of the V.F.W., member of the Moose Lodge and also the American Legion.Charles is survived by sons, Jeffrey Haynes of Orange Park, FL and Charles S. Haynes II of Lake Havasu City; daughter, Dawn M. Haynes of Orange, CA; sisters, Gertrude Hay, Gladys Davis and Majel Gossett of Ross County, OH and Myrtle McKibben of Ohio; uncle, Adam Haynes and Aunt Alverta Thompson, both of Ohio; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.Charles was preceded in by his wife of 50 years, Norma Jean, who passed away January 3, 2004.God saw you were getting tiredAnd a cure was not to be.So He put His arms around youAnd whispered "Come to me".A golden heart stopped beating,Hard working hands now rest.God broke our hears to prove to usHe only takes the best.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
