Donald Joseph Schmidt of Lake Havasu City, AZ, entered the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, June 19, 2004 at his home with his family by his side. Don was born on June 9, 1925 in Cedar Rapids, IA.Don was a graduate of McKinley High School in 1942. He joined the Navy, serving 2 years in WWII. Don married his wife, Norma in 1944. After graduating from electronic school in Kentucky, Don and his family moved to Lancaster, CA and became the owner/operator of Valley TV and Furniture and other business ventures for 38 years.Upon his first retirement, he and his wife moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ where they started another successful business, Blue River Tours bus line. Don was an avid lifetime Chicago Cub fan. He also was a private pilot and enjoyed flying his Commanche aircraft since 1971. Don had a wonderful sense of humor and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. He was a member of AOPA, 40/8 club and the American Legion.Don is survived by his loving wife, Norma of 59 years; three children, David Schmidt of Fresno, CA, Connie Mansfield of Nixa, MO and Sherri Worthen of Lancaster, CA. In addition, he will also be dearly missed by his 6 grandchildren, Sabrina Roux, Heidi Schmidt, Ian Wood, Ryan Mansfield, Chase Wood, Lindsay Mansfield and two step grandchildren, Daniel Worthen and Regina Worthen.A public viewing will be at the Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home, 21 Riviera Blvd., Lake Havasu City, AZ on Tuesday, June 22, 2004 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2004 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 3163 Maricopa Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ at 11:00 AM. A reception will be immediately following the service.Remembrances can be made to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405, Our Saviour Lutheran Church, 3163 Maricopa Ave., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86406 and the American Cancer Society, 2126 McCulloch Blvd. Ste. 7, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
