Dorothy Grace BennettJuly 21, 1925 - July 14, 2004Dorothy Grace Bennett, 78, passed away July 14, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born in Council Hill, IL, the only child of Barbara Sedgwick and Joseph Rispen Coulthard. Dorothy grew up on a farm outside of Glena, IL with her cousin and best friend Sidney Temperly. At the age of seventeen Dorothy met and married Elmer Dale Bennett. They were married September 30, 1942 in Glena County, IL.Dorothy and her husband moved to California in 1950 along with their four young children. After her husband's retirement they moved from Orange County to Tehachapi, CA and spent many happy years volunteering for the V.F.W.Dorothy was a very loving and loyal wife and mother with a positive outlook on life. She enjoyed people, especially her longtime friends from Tehachapi, Ca and Lake Havasu City, AZ.She was preceded in death by her husband Elmer Dale Bennett, a World War II veteran on November 18, 1990. She spent the remainder of her life with her devoted daughter Nancy Carter who managed Jerry's Restaurant in Lake Havasu City, AZ.Dorothy is survived by her children Barbara Belthius of Glendale, AZ, Dorothy Schaefer of Las Vegas, NV, Nancy Carter of Lake Havasu City, AZ and Thomas Bennett of Foster City, CA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Tammy Hartsock, Robin Assad, Teresa Belthius, Gail Manns, Leanne Carter, Amanda Bennett, Suzanne Throubough, twelve great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.Dorothy leaves behind her a loving caring family and friends who are all saddened by her death.A memorial services will be held Monday, July 19, 6:00 PM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. Rev. Carol Sheffield will be officiating.In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to go to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
