Robert J. Willson, 72, passed away Wednesday, July 21, 2004 at his home in Lake Havasu with his wife at his side. He was born December 19, 1931 in Burlington, Iowa to Rex and Madaline (Kienlen) Willson.At the age of 21, Bob enlisted in the United States Navy at the age of 17 during the Korean Conflict, serving his country for over 6 years. He was in the restaurant business for 45 years, most recently he owned Homestead Restaurant in Afton, WY. Bob moved to Lake Havasu from Custer, S.D. 20 years ago. Among the many things that Bob enjoyed was playing cards and going to Laughlin. He was a member of the Elks Club #2399 of Havasu, a lifetime member of the DAV in South Dakota and lifetime member of the Republican Presidential Task Force.Bob is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy; son, Shane; daughter, Stacy, both of Afton WY; grandchildren, Ryan and Sarah; brothers, Charles Willson of Jackson, MI and Terry Willson of Burlington, IA; sisters, Betty Fouts of Des Moines, IA and Mary Beggs of Burlington, IA and numerous nieces and nephews.His mother, father and infant son preceded Robert in death.Bob's wishes were to be cremated and a celebration of his life will be held at a later date for family and friends. Donations are requested to go to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.God saw you were getting tiredAnd a cure was not to be.So He put His arms around youAnd whispered "Come to me".With tearful eyes we watched you,And saw you pass away.Although we loved you dearly,We could not make you stay.A golden heart stopped beating,Hard working hands at rest.God broke our hearts to prove to us,He only takes the best.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
