Mary "Bety" Eglyn of Paradise Valley, AZ passed on at home with her niece Janice at her side August 31, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where she lived for nearly three years.Bety was born Mary Elizabeth to Herman and Carolyn Freese in Chicago, IL. She was raised in Oklahoma and moved to the Phoenix, AZ area in 1940. Bety modeled for Tapleys of Scottsdale. She met Bernard Eglyn at Korricks Department Store where she was an illustrative artist for the advertising department, and he was a store manager. They married March of 1943. Bety was a member of St Josephs Catholic Church, the Phoenix Art Museum, Heard Museum, and Arizona Artists Guild and volunteered for the PBS in Phoenix.She leaves behind her brother William Freese of Shreveport, LA; niece, Janice (Freese) and husband Ron Hunsaker of Lake Havasu City, AZ; nephews, Robert Freese and his wife Susan of Hesperia, CA, Clifford Gamble and his wife Coral of Lake Havasu City, AZ and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends.She was preceded in death by her husband Bernard Eglyn and brother Robert Freese.In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bety's name to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
