Roy Friis-Skotte, 72, passed away September 20, 2004 at Havasu Regional Medical Center following surgery at Arizona Heart Hospital in Phoenix. He was born on October 18, 1931 in Hoboken, NJ to Lillian and Svend Friis-Skotte.Roy retired from the NYC Police Department after serving as a detective for 20 years. He also served with the US Army as an M.P. in Korea with the 3rd Infantry Division. Roy moved from Staten Island with his wife, Anne in December of 1983. In the eighties he worked as a Police Service assistant for the LHPD. Roy and Anne enjoyed traveling extensively throughout the US and many areas of the world such as Australia, New Zealand, Southeast Asia, South America, Scandinavia and the Mediterranean. In July, they cruised with Bartlett Tours on the Erie Canal and St. Lawrence Seaway. He loved bowling and weekly trips to Laughlin to try his luck at the Keno machines. Roy also enjoyed movies and watching BBC America, Discovery, Travel and the History Channels on TV.Roy was a member of the Arizona 10-13 Club, SOAR of the City of New York and the Retired Police Association of the State of New York.Roy is survived by his beloved bride of 49 years, Anne; 2 nieces and 2 nephews in Virginia and one nephew in New Jersey.Memorial services will be held Monday, September 27, 2004, 10:00 AM at Lietz-Fraze Chapel. The VFW 9401 will conduct military honors.In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to go to the Western Arizona Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403 or Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
