Charles went to his eternal rest to be with his family on October 3rd, 2004, after a long illness. He was born to William E. and Pleasant (Beechum) March in Petoskey, Michigan on December 23rd, 1917. Charles was raised on the family farm in Cedar Valley, Twining Michigan and graduated from Whittemore High School in 1937. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Charles was employed as a security guard at Pontiac Motors, retiring in 1974 after 33 years of service. He also worked in construction as a carpenter and cement finisher most of his adult life.Charles married Maudie Dibble on June 15th, 1940, and they made their home in Pontiac, Michigan until he retired. After retirement Charles and Maudie lived in AuGres, Michigan, when not traveling to visit all 50 states, Canada and Mexico. They wintered in Lake Havasu City, Arizona from 1974 to 1977, when Lake Havasu City became their home.Charles enjoyed hunting, fishing, and playing golf, as well as traveling. He was a member of the American Legion Chief Pontiac Post #377 for 59 years, serving in various offices. He was also a member of the Odd Fellows and the Lake Havasu Sams Chapter, Good Sams Club.Charles is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Maudie, daughter Barbara Cushman and husband Gary of Granite Falls, WA; and her two children Kimberly Stierli and husband Kenneth and Kristen Lawrence; daughter Geraldine Compeau of Novi, MI; and her three children, Deborah Wheeler and husband Brian, Mark Compeau, and Brenda Raffin and husband Kenneth. "PaPa" was also beloved by six great granddaughters, one step great grandson, and two step great great-grandson. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and one sister.Charles was a loyal and true friend in times of joy and need to so many and will be missed by all.Interment and a graveside memorial service, with military honors provided by the American Legion Chief Pontiac Post #377, will take place at Oakland Hills Memorial Gardens in Novi, Michigan at a date to be announced. A reception to celebrate Charles's life will be held at his Lake Havasu City home on Sunday, October 10th, 2004 from 2 to 4 PM.The family request that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ; 86405 or the charity of your choice. Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
