William B. (Bill) Grover, currently of Oregon, passed away at his Lake Havasu City residence, surrounded by family members, on October 15th, 2004. Bill was born August 3, 1930 in Joliet, Montana to Leland and Rosina (Rose) Wolf Grover. The family moved to the Bitteroot Valley when he was seven years old and he remained there until graduation from Corvallis High School. In 1948 he enlisted in the U. S. Navy. He was very proud of his 25 years of service in the Seabees and Naval Civil Engineer Corps, from which he retired as an officer in 1972 after serving in Vietnam.Bill married Betty Clark of Corvallis, Montana in 1951. His family was always foremost in his thoughts and actions wherever he was. He and Betty, his wife of 53 years, enjoyed traveling even after the years in the Navy. They traveled extensively through Australia, New Zealand, Germany and Western Europe. Bill and Betty traveled throughout the United States and Mexico with Bill's goal being to never turn on the air conditioner or heater in his fifth wheel for an entire year. A summer fishing and sightseeing in Alaska to celebrate their 50th, wedding anniversary, was their last long trip. Summers were spent with family in Oregon, Montana and Washington with winters, the last six years in Lake Havasu City. Bill's hobbies included camping hunting, but fishing was his first love. He was a past Master of Corvallis Masonic Lodge, Shrine Bagdad Temple and a past Patron in the Eastern Stars of Corvallis, Montana. Bill's sense of humor never let up and he always over came his toughest times with a laugh or two. Young people were very important to Bill through out his life. He was active with Rainbow Girls and Demolay Boys in Montana and unofficially with 4H and FFA in Harney County, Oregon. His presence at fair was an expected event looked for by many of his young friends. Some of his most respected and cherished friendships were with the youth that he met on his travels. Some of his grandchildren went to school in Crane, Oregon and there he was beloved Poppy, not only to his grandchildren, but to all of their friends. Poppy will be greatly missed by all his grandchildren both natural and acquired. All will cherish the moments they shared with him.Bill is survived by his wife Betty, son James Grover and wife Debbie, daughter Shana Grover, grandchildren Lisa, Katrina, Jeff, Kala, Brianna, Darcy, and Danny; great grandchildren Johnny, Olivia, Lainie, Lilly and Johnny; brothers Leland Virgil Grover, Richard Grover and wife Joyce.
