Sheldon Schwartz, 77, passed away on December 11, 2004 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on January 8, 1927 in Duluth, MN."Shel" was preceded in death by his father and mother, George and Fannie Schwartz of Minneapolis, Minnesota. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara, brother Arnold of Scottsdale, Arizona and three children; Steven of Lake Havasu, Arizona, Andrea Hadwick of Carson City, Nevada, and Douglas of Vancouver, B.C. Canada. He had five grandsons; Evan and Joshua Schwartz, Jayson Hadwick, and Jacob and Casey Schwartz. Shel attended the University of Minnesota while he worked as a furrier for his father. He married Barbara in 1950. They moved to Bemidji, Minnesota where they resided for 35 years. They owned Northern Auto Supply and then started Bookcraft Inc; a retail store, and the Bemidji State University Bookstore. Sheldon was very active in the Bemidji community, where he belonged to the Masons, Elks Club, Curling Club, Duplicate Bridge Club, member of the Bemidji Town and Country Club, and was president of the Bemidji Jaycees for which he was the recipient of the Distinguish Service Award.The Schwartz's relocated after their retirement to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where he was a member of the Elks Club, Duplicate Bridge Club, London Bridge Golf Club, and was active in SCORE.He loved fishing, bridge, curling, books, animals, and most of all his family. He will be loved and missed by all his friends and relatives.There will be a celebration of his life at the Schwartz home on January 8, 2005 from 2:30 to 6:30 p.m. Donations can be made in his name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O. Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405 or to the Western Humane Society, 1100 Empire Dr., Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86404.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
