Obituary of Ruth COSS
Please share a memory of Ruth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Ruth "Cookie" Coss began her journey home into the Universe at dawn on December 16, 2004 at the age of 85. Native of San Antonio, Texas, as she spent her youth in Kansas City, Missouri, until at the age of 21 she and her family relocated to Los Angeles, California. It was there where she met and married her husband, Lou in 1942.They were married 62 years. Cookie was the middle child of 5 siblings and managed to outlive them all. She relocated with Lou to Arizona in 1989 and lived in Prescott and Lake Havasu City. She was short, scrappy and feisty. Heaven help the local wildlife with any ideas of grazing in her garden. And the same went for any fly-away leaf that had the audacity to alight on her porch. She had a love of the wild birds that would stop by for a snack at her birdfeeders, hummingbirds being her favorite. Her main passion was visiting the casinos and playing Pai-Gow. She was incredibly lucky and would win jackpots regularly at slots. How did she do that? She forever had a sense of style and was an accomplished seamstress, her father being a tailor by trade. She loved a bargain and enjoyed browsing clothing consignment stores, always looking like a million bucks. She also collected frogs. You can find them in the most unlikely locations throughout her home. Her family was her whole life, and she will be sorely missed. She is survived by her husband, Lou; son Gil and daughter-in-law Debi of Havasu: daughter Chrystine Brooks of Sonoma County, California; grandchildren Amber Cartwright, Craig Coss, Jay Cartwright, Heath Cartwright, Justin Brooks and great grandchildren, Koa Louis Brooks and Rebecca Sutton. The Coss family would like to extend their gratitude and heartfelt thanks to Hospice for their compassionate help during Cookie's transition. It is requested in lieu of flowers that donations be made to Hospice of Havasu, P O Box 597, Lake Havasu City, Arizona 86405.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home and Crematory.
