BILLY C. WOOD
November 7, 1925 - August 12, 2013
Bill Wood went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2013 in Lake Havasu City, AZ at the age of 87. He was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Anna Pearl and Gifford M. Wood. He worked in management at Insley Manufacturing in Indianapolis and later at Schwitzer/Borg Warner where he retired in 1988. He served his country in the Navy from 1944-1945 before being Honorably Discharged early to care for his ailing mother.
Bill married Lula Massingale and had 3 children. They divorced in 1974. In 1976 Bill married Vicki Downin. They lived in Greenfield, Indiana until 1988 when they retired to Lake Havasu City. Bill enjoyed fishing, golf, metal detecting and trips to Laughlin. His family always came first, but he loved his friends and never met a stranger. He will be missed by all.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Vicki Wood of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons, Brian S. Wood (Pam) of Jamestown, IN and Barry A. Wood (Debbie) of McCordsville, IN; daughter Christina A. Wood of Indianapolis, IN; 4 grandchildren, Brisco, Angela, Anthony and Jennifer; 3 great-grandchildren, Christian, Cameron and Brena; 2 brothers Bob (Yvonne) and Norbert (Joyce); several nieces, nephews, great-neices and great-nephews, and his former spouse, Lula.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home at 11 AM on Wednesday, August 21 with Chaplain Jimmy Ortega offering words of comfort. Bill's ashes will be buried in Indianapolis, IN
The family requested donations be made in Bill's memory to the Polidori House, 1970 Bahama Av., Lake Havasu City, AZ 86403.
