Lyla Beatrice Sugamele
January 18, 1927- August 13, 2013
Lyla Sugamele was born January 18, 1927 to James and Carrie Reed in Lexington, Oklahoma.
She peacefully returned to the Lord August 13, 2013 with her family by her side.
The Reed family left Oklahoma to go to Arizona when she was very young and lived in Avondale for several years. The family then headed to Northern California, where Lyla found the love of music and learned to play the guitar. She and her sister, Lillie, traveled up and down Northern California singing in churches and on the radio.
They were known as the "Reed Sisters". Lyla would later sing in the church choirs in Torrance, CA and in Lake Havasu City, AZ.
Lyla lost her beloved husband, Blase "Chips" Sugamele of 63 years on December 26, 2009. They had met in Modesto, CA at a roller skating rink and married on July 6, 1946 in Fresno, CA. After living in Torrance, CA for many years they relocated to Lake Havasu City, AZ on June 20, 1972 with McCulloch Corp where they both were employed.
Our Mother's passion in life was the love she had for the Lord. Her favorite hobbies were bowling, camping, crocheting, playing games and being around her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her four sons, Lon (Linda) Sugamele of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Michael (Elaine) Sugamele of San Diego, CA, Roger (Amy) Sugamele of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Joey (Barb) Sugamele of Lake Havasu City, AZ and her daughter Cindy (Doug) Gabriel of Scottsdale, AZ.
Her grandchildren, Brett (Jessica), Brooke, David (Jennifer), Steven (Crystal), Kerri, Mitch (Jodi), Krista, Jolenne (Rilee), Ashley (Vincent), Lindsay, Shylah, Colton, Tyler, Ciarra and Nicole.
Her great-grandchildren, Blake, Claire, Alexia, Preston, Haygen, Cope, Gage, Skylee, Seth, Deegan, Dannika, Bryce, Kendall, Natalee, and Irelynn.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers and sisters. She was the last of the Reed siblings to meet her Heavenly Father.
Lyla and Chips started attending Stonebridge Christian Assembly of God in 1972 and were dedicated members for many years. Lyla was very active in the women's ministries group and was a singer in the church choir.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm October 19, 2013, at Stonebridge Fellowship at 2700 S Jamaica Blvd, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86406.
Rest in Peace Mom.
