James "Brodie" Pugh, 81, passed away peacefully in Guatemala City, Guatemala on May 3, 2005. He was born on February 8, 1924 in Houma, LA to Mouton and Brodie Pugh. Brodie attended LSU in Petroleum Engineering. He proudly served in WWII in Europe under the direction of General Patton. Brodie was a man of his word; he was a true friend to those lucky enough to be considered his. Mr. Pugh invented aerated fluid drilling and oil and gas line testing. He, and his great partner and life long friend, Charman Malhotra drilled wells all over the world for his company "Air Drilling Services International". In 1976, he helped invent the tracheotomy valve in order to help a good friend of his. He then handed over the patented rights to his friend and his family.In 1981, Brodie moved to Guatemala where he met and married Olga Andrews and together, they built 2 beautiful homes. He loved to drive his boat and especially enjoyed playing golf in the beautiful countryside of Guatemala.Brodie is survived by his beloved bride, Olga "Oli" Pugh of Guatemala City; children, Patty Pugh and Charles and his wife Suzanne Pugh, all of Denver, CO and Robert John "RJ" and his wife, Debbie Pugh of Lake Havasu City, AZ; siblings, Charles and his wife Jo Pugh of Little Rock, AR, Nancy Peveto of Ridgeland, MS and Eleanor Newman of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Leslie Marie, Bianca Renee and Richard Brodie Pugh. He will also be dearly missed by Olga's children, Kevin and his wife, Mary Martha Andrews and Steven and his wife Crystal Andrews; Olga's grandchildren, who were also a constant source of enjoyment for Brodie and Olga; Alajandro, Christopher, Stephanie, Paul Michael, Jamie and Valerie.He was preceded in death by his parents and his former wife, Gerry Pugh, formerly of Denver, CO.Brodie will be deeply missed by all who were blessed with his upbringing and knowledge in business and friendship.
