Obituary of Katherine BARROW

Katherine Virginia Barrow, a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend, passed away at the age of 84, May 9, 2005 in Reno, NV. She was born on July 31, 1920 to Glenn and Virginia (Coates) Handlin in Alton, IL.Katherine moved to Lake Havasu in 1967 from Carson City, NV. She grew up in Illinois and was one of eleven children. During WWII Katherine worked for Owens as an ammunition packer. Following that she was trained to be a machinist, but was never hired by anyone because she was female. She then received her GED prior to going to work as a bookkeeper for the State of Nevada. Her last job before retirement was with the Forrest service in Lake Roosevelt, AZ. Katherine had a special passion for fishing.Katherine is survived by her beloved family, sons, Richard Barrow and his wife Linda of Lake Havasu and Charles Barrow and his wife Carrie of Reno, NV; sisters, Peggy Wadlow of Antioch, CA and Betty Klopher of Alton, IL; four grandchildren, Eric and his wife Christine, Brenda, Kathy and her husband Tom and Melissa. She will also be dearly missed by her seven great grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 64 years, Charles who passed away August 5, 2004 in Lake Havasu.Private services will be held at a later date.Condolences may be submitted in Katherine's memory to www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.com.Arrangements were entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
