Irma Marie Simon, 101, passed away June 12, 2005 in Lake Havasu City, AZ; born in Lyons, Nebraska, was a resident of Lake Havasu City since 1998. Irma was born on July 25th, 1903, daughter of William and Emma Guhl, grew up in the small farming community of Lyons, Nebraska. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Evangelical Church in Lyons; she maintained strong ties to the Lutheran Church throughout her life and was a Charter Member of Christ Lutheran Church in La Mesa, California since 1945.Irma attended both public and parochial school in her home town, graduated high school and went on to attend the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She married Frank Simon in 1930, moved to La Mesa, California and later to El Cajon, California where she raised her two children and lived until her move to Lake Havasu City. Irma was active for many years in women's clubs and Goodwill, loved to play Bridge and traveled extensively to many parts of the globe including Italy, Russia and China. Her special joy, however, was time spent with family and friends. Irma is preceded in death by her husband Frank Simon, and her son, Frank Simon, Jr. She is survived by her daughter, Salli Abbott, her son-in-law, Chuck Abbott, her grandson, Erik Abbott and his wife Alison and her great granddaughter, Savannah Marie Abbott.Irma will be interred next to her husband Frank in San Diego, California, on a date to be determined. A memorial service will be held at the Claremont House in Lake Havasu City.The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to Hospice of Havasu, PO Box 597, Lake Havasu City, AZ 86405.Irma Marie Simon - a life well lived and all promises kept.
