Donald (Don) Parker, 90, passed away at home in Lake Havasu City on July 16, 2005 from cancer. He was born June 1, 1915 in Sauk Rapids, MN.Don moved to Lake Havasu in the 70's from northwestern Minnesota where he owned Parker Motors Ford/Used Card dealerships in Karlstad and Greenbush for 20 years with his 1st wife Eunice (Quirk) Parker. He was a life-time member of the American Legion, Elks and Eagles.Don was a graduate of Monrovia Arcadia Duarte High School in 1931 and was a member of the Iron Workers Union until 1936 when he joined the L.A. Sheriff's Department, Hollywood precinct. He joined the Army in 1939 and served as Captain with the Sixth Army Signal Corps throughout Northern Africa and Europe which is only part of the reason he was one of the Greats of "The Greatest Generation".After the war, Don returned to L.A. and joined a newly formed group of police officers; the California Highway Patrol and was one of the first motorcycle cops in L.A. County. He and his wife, Eunice (Quirk) Parker lived in a home he built in Altadena. They left southern California in 1952 with two baby girls and headed for Karlstad, MN. Don is survived by his wife, Cecilia (Joan) Feaster Parker; his two daughters, Lori Dawn Parker and Kim Parker Herrera; son-in-law, Peter Herrera and his grandson, Cassidy Loren Parker.Condolences may be submitted in Don's memory to www.lietz-frazefuneralhome.comArrangements entrusted to Lietz-Fraze Funeral Home & Crematory.
