George Charles "Charlie" Coulbourn passed away peacefully on August 26th, 2013 after a battle with cancer.
Charlie was born on October 21st, 1939 to George Calvin and Mary Matthews Coulbourn. He grew up on the Eastern Shore of Virginia with his parents and three younger sisters, Nancy, Mary Bess Gay, and Linda. He graduated from Churchland High School in 1958.
On February 18th, 1961 Charlie married Sandra Brown. Together they had four children, George Charles Jr., David Brian, Scott Alan, and Shannon Lynn. Charlie worked at Norfolk Naval Shipyard from 1959 until 1975. In 1975 Charlie and his family moved to Northern Virginia where he worked for Naval Sea Systems Command until his retirement on December 31st, 1994. In 1998, Charlie and Sandra moved to Lake Havasu City.
Charlie was an accomplished Boy Scout leader, member of the Freemasons, an avid boater and sailor, member of the London Bridge Yacht Club and the Lake Havasu Genealogy Society.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Sandra, sons Charles Jr. and Scott, daughter Shannon, son-in-law Dana, grandson Ryan, and daughter-in-law Theresa, and sister Linda. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Mary, sisters Mary Bess Gay and Nancy, and son David.
