Inez Sophia Hoekstra passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2005 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. She was born in Borup, Minnesota on March 19, 1920, to John and Bertha (Thorpe) Eastvold. Inez married Raymond Hoekstra on April 19, 1941. Ray's work as an inspector of cotton and potatoes took them to several states, including North Dakota, Louisiana, Washington and California. Wherever they lived, Inez enjoyed teaching Sunday school and singing in the choir. While in Lynden, Washington, they were instrumental in building Hope Lutheran Church---the first one ever in this Dutch settlement. Inez had her dress shop there and sold it when Ray retired. They moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona when it was first developed. It was here she worked at Mabel's Dress Shop. Ray passed away in 1993. She was member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church and BPOE #2399 in Lake Havasu City.Inez is survived by sister-in-law Clarice Hovde, nephew Duane Eastvold, two nieces in Minnesota, Phyllis Gunderson and Ona Cary, as well as her three "adopted' families: Dick, Jennifer, Carl and Christopher Anderson; Doug, Kyle and Bryant Johnson; Jack and Ruth Biermann. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Ray, three brothers, two sisters and three nephews. A memorial services will be held at Mt.
