Russell C. Meyer, DDS, 60, died on Monday, October 17, 2005 at his home peacefully, and surrounded by family. Russ was born on December 16, 1944 in Faribault, MN; to Dr. Frederick and Icle (Whitney) Meyer. He grew up in Kenyon, MN; graduating from Kenyon High School in 1962. Russ married Bonnie Gibson of Osceola, IA; in 1965. They had two children, Scott and Julie. Russ graduated from the University of Minnesota Dental School in 1967. He married Jacquelyn (Jackie) Nagel Syverson in 1984. He had two step-children, Christopher (Chris) and Brittaney (Britt) Syverson. They lived in Moorhead, MN; where Russ practiced dentistry for 21 years before retiring, due to complications of diabetes. Russ loved the lakes of Minnesota and was an avid fisherman. He especially enjoyed his time on Big Cormorant Lake and at Kabetogama. His other favorite pastime was playing the piano. He enjoyed playing for the assisted living facilities in Lake Havasu City, AZ, where Russ and Jackie have lived since 2002.Russ is survived by his wife Jackie, son Scott Meyer and wife Marie of Fargo, ND; daughter Julie Braseth and husband Randy of Ulen, MN; step-son Chris Syverson and step-daughter Britt Syverson both of Fargo, ND; brother Dr. Rodney Meyer and wife Joni of Brainerd, MN; sister Dr. Barbara Puumala and husband Ric of Cloquet, MN; and his sister and best friend Nancy Fogelson of Flagstaff, AZ; grandchildren Cammeren and Andrew (Drew) Meyer, Alex, Ryan and Kayla Braseth. He is also survived by Aletha Gibson Ruble (Bonnie's mom) of Phoenix, AZ; and Phil Gibson and wife Marcy of Lonetree,Iowa; mother and father-in-law Ernest and Evelyn Nagel of Devils Lake, ND; sister-in-laws Jeri Rudolf of Bozeman, MT; Jo Nell Bye and husband Scott of Fargo, ND; brother-in-law Jim Nagel of Fargo, ND; and many nieces and nephews. Russ was loved dearly by all who knew him. He was a gentle spirit, who gave of himself freely and unconditionally. He will be greatly missed by all, but the memories we will cherished.A memorial celebration of Russ's life will be held at his home, 3625 Brave Dr; Lake Havasu City, AZ; on Saturday, October 22, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be held in Minnesota next summer.
