Retired Judge Jack I. Massey, 82, passed away on Sunday, November 13, 2005 at his home in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on October 11, 1923 in Los Angeles, CA; to Luther and Marjorie Massey.Jack served in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII and after his honorable discharge, joined the Los Angeles Police Department. He married his wife Jeanne in 1945. The couple recently celebrated their 60th, wedding anniversary.Jack graduated from the University of Southern California and Southwestern University College of Law. He began his legal career as an attorney in private practice and subsequently in the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office. Jack was selected as a Superior Court Commissioner for Los Angeles County in 1969. He served in that capacity until then Governor, Ronald Reagan appointed him to be the judge of the newly formed Needles-Calzona Judicial District in 1977. Jack presided for two terms and then worked as a visiting judge throughout California until his retirement. Jack and Jeanne have been full time residents of the Havasu area since 1975.Jack will be remembered as a fair but firm jurist while he was on the bench. But more importantly, Jack cared deeply for his family and placed them ahead of all else. He leaves this earth having made a positive impact on all who knew him. Jack is survived by his loving wife Jeanne; sons Jim and wife Kim, John and wife Becky; brother Bill Massey and wife Donna; and his four cherished grandchildren Scott, David, Kelly and Christa. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Bob.
