ROBERTA (BOBBIE) ANN SOFIA
Roberta (Bobbie) Ann Sofia, 67, of Lake Havasu City, AZ, passed away at home surrounded by her family and friends Wednesday, June 4, 2014, due to heart failure caused by Primary Cardiac Amyloidosis (a rare, incurable blood disease) which she battled since 2008. Bobbie was born and raised in Yonkers, NY, on January 9, 1947, to the late Louis and Francis Kosmolsick and was married to Saverio (Sam) Sofia on May 7, 1972. Bobbie and Sam re-located to Lake Havasu City, AZ, in 1974 and celebrated their 42nd wedding anniversary May 7th, 2014. Bobbie was a woman of great faith in Jesus Christ which was reflected in every aspect of her life. Her passions in life were her family, church community (Abundant Grace Assembly of God), pets, horseback riding, gardening (tea cup bouquets) and spending as much family time at the beach/ocean as possible. Bobbie was a gifted homemaker, event coordinator, floral designer and writer. She was a dedicated wife, sister, mother and friend and always put her heart and soul into gifts and holidays, desiring to make them as memorable as possible for others. Bobbie always spoke with great affection of the years she spent as a Coordinator in the New York District Sales Office for Pan American World Airways (Pan Am). She was the Co-Founder and VP of Sofia's Auto Body & Glass since 1974 and, as a pioneer of homeschooling in LHC, educated her five girls from 1983 to 2005. Bobbie always said her greatest love in life was her husband, Sam, and her greatest accomplishment was her five girls. She lived a life of service, sacrifice and strength that was a part of everything she did and every word she spoke. Bobbie is survived by her husband, Sam Sofia, and her five daughters: Stacey Ann Sofia-Clarke of Temecula, CA; Jaimie Maureen Sofia of Scottsdale, AZ; Jessica Elizabeth Aguilar of Whittier, CA; Vanessa Renee Price of Scottsdale, AZ; and Ashley Sofia Gill of Lincoln, CA. She is also survived by her sister, Arlene Kosmolsick, and her three grandchildren: Gideon Casey Gill (3y), Arya Winter Price (15m), and Donovan Asher Gill (8m). A Memorial Service for Bobbie will be held at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Amyloidosis Foundation a www.amyloidosis.org.
