David Andrew Wells, was born to Louis Andrew Wells and Myrtie (Smith) Wells in East Chicago, IN on July 29, 1945 and unexpectedly left this life for another on May 21, 2006.David joined the United States Army in 1963, 3rd Battalion 76th Artillery. He was a Canoneer and Nuclear weapons Specialist and was honorably discharged in 1968. David received his education in the Army. He worked at Inland Steel Corp in East Chicago, IN, up until his first retirement. While working there he completed mechanical technology at Purdue University Calumet Campus. He worked as a pipe fitter at #3 Cold Strip, Labor & Coal handling foreman in Plant 3 Coke Plant and worked as material controller for #2BOF. He retired from Inland Steel in 1996. While working at Inland, he met his soul mate, Carol.After leaving the mid-west they settled in Lake Havasu City and opened their own business Saguaro Welding, which they ran for 5 years. He also worked part time for Mercury Air. David became known as one of the best craftsman in the area as well as a best friend to many.David was a 4 x 4 enthusiast back home in Indiana. He was an avid fan of NHRA and NASCAR. He loved Lake Havasu, going out in the desert in his buggy. He raced Ledging Cars for a short time and he especially loved working in his garage. He was always there to help. Dave has left some of his talent behind in some of the homes here in Havasu with decorative metal work which he was so proud of. David was a good Husband, Father, Grandfather, friend and a good neighbor. David is survived by his best friend and beloved wife of 24 years, Carol A. Wells; Son, Daniel Wells of Lake Havasu; Daughter Lexann (Mark Spudic) Wells; Granddaughter, Erin Adair Wells, all of East Chicago, IN and many, many friends.He was preceded in death by his Father, Louis; Mother, Myrtie and Brother, Robert Wells."The garage door has been closed and will not open again!"Memorial services will be held Friday, May 26, 2006, 11:00 AM at Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church.
