Donald Francis Jones, 82, passed away on Thursday, June 15, 2006 in Lake Havasu City, AZ. He was born on December 9, 1923 in Perham, MN.Donald moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ; 11 years ago from Perham, MN. He worked as a publisher/general manager for the Albert Lea Tribune in Albert Lea, MN; for 9 years. Donald proudly served his country in the U. S. Air Force WWII. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, American Legion, Post #81 V.F.W. Post #9401, Eagles Aerie #4299 and B.P.O.E. Lodge #2399.Donald began his career as the first radio announcer at KORN in Mitchell, SD. He was always on the "cutting edge" of media technology. Donald also brought the first cable franchise to Austin, MN. He was a Publisher for the Lancaster Gazette in Lancaster, CA; Sales Manager for the Austin Daily Herald in Austin, MN; President/General Manager of radio station KQAQ in Austin, MN; Sales Manager of KMMT television station in Austin, MN; Manager for radio station KLIZ in Brainerd, MN; Announcer at WJJW the first FM radio station in Michigan, and also in sales at KSTP radio station in Minneapolis and St. Paul, MN. He was loved and will be missed by everyone who knew him.Donald is survived by loving wife of 59 years, Dorothy Jane Jones, sons D. Edward Jones and wife Mary of Jupiter, FL; Gerard J. Jones and wife Leslie of Stillwater, MN; daughter Jane P. Kallio and husband Bill of Richmond, VA; sister Agnes E. Null and husband George of Bloomington, MN; eight grandchildren and 1 great granddaugher Donations may be made in Donald's name to Hospice of Havasu, P.O.
