Obituary of George Lee Verkamp

George Lee Verkamp, 77, passed away on January 16, 2016 in Lake Havasu City, Arizona. He was born to Joe Luis and Marta Elva Verkamp on June 22, 1938 in El Monte, California. George was a firefighter in Los Angeles County for 35 years. He married his one true love, Suzanne in Paramount, California when he was 18 years old. They were High School sweethearts and they were married 39 years when Sue went to be with the Lord. George was rich in life. He was everyone's friend and would do anything for them. He was easy going and never had a bad thing to say. He is loved by many and will be missed by all. George is survived by his mother, Marta Verkamp of Lake Havasu City, AZ; sons, George Verkamp (Kathy) of Hawthorne, NV, Gerry Verkamp (Leah) of Dallas, TX; daughter, Gindy Wilson of Lake Havasu City, AZ; brother, Bill Verkamp (Diane) of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Suzanne Verkamp and his father, Joe Luis Verkamp. A graveside service will be at 2:00 PM (PST) on Friday, January 22nd at Westminster Memorial Park.
