Obituary of Merrill ROPE

Merrill Rope, a retired industrial product manager, passed away August 1, 2006 at the age of 87. He was born in Clarinda, IA on July 14, 1919.Mr. Rope spent most of his adult life in San Diego, CA and moved to Lake Havasu City in 1988. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, Merrill earned his degree at San Diego State University and was later employed in San Diego by Solar Turbines, Inc., an industrial gas turbine products manufacturer. He retired in 1978 and became an industrial consultant.Merrill was an avid fresh water fishing enthusiast, his piscatorial adventures ranged throughout the central and western states and Canada. He also enjoyed golf. He held an amateur radio license and was a member of the London Bridge Amateur Radio Association.Mr. Rope was an active member of Our Saviour Lutheran Church where he served in a variety of lay offices throughout the years.Merrill is survived by his brother, Eugene of El Cajon, CA. He was preceded in death by his wife, Dottie.Memorial services will be held at Our Saviour Lutheran Church on Sunday, August 6, 2006 at 2:00 pm.
